The performance capabilities of the Elantra and the Sonata for 2021 vary considerably. The Elantra is available with two gas engines and a hybrid engine across six trims, and the Sonata is offered with two gas engines across four trims. One of the Elantra’s engines is a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. The other one is a 201-horsepower, four-cylinder, 1.6-liter turbo engine. In comparison, one of the engines in the 2021 Sonata is a 191-horsepower, four-cylinder, 2.5-liter design. The other possibility is a 180-horsepower, four-cylinder, 1.6-liter turbo engine.
If you are searching for a sedan that stands apart from others, you will not be disappointed with the impressive styling of the Sonata or the Elantra for the new model year. In contrast, these vehicles have familial traits across the exterior; the Elantra’s smaller stature results in a shorter nose and a sharper angle on the rear windshield.
