What’s New for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid?
The 2022 model year brings exciting changes to the popular Tucson crossover SUV. By opening the door to its fourth generation, the Tucson brings improvements to its styling from bumper to bumper and to its many advanced features. More than that, it introduces hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains for the first time. Both of the eco-friendly options are powered by a turbo 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine. The Tucson Hybrid benefits from 227 total horsepower. The Tucson Plug-In Hybrid takes this up a notch to 261 total horsepower. Regardless of which eco-friendly Tucson you select, your SUV will have all-wheel drive and a six-speed automatic transmission.
Throughout the Tucson’s trim line, the 2022 version shows off crisp personality lines with a geometric theme throughout the grille. The grille radiates outward and is directly integrated with the modern LED headlights. The façade is further accentuated by thin molding that runs across the entire lower perimeter and squared-off tire wells. The interior design is undeniably modern with a fluid, wide design across the center stack and a layered look through the dashboard. The center stack’s specific features are a color display screen, a climate management system interface, air vents, and USB ports.
The gas-powered Tucson SEL is comparable to the Tucson Plug-In Hybrid through its available and included features. Exterior features are tinted rear windows, integrated turning signals with heated side mirrors, and roof rails. Interior features are a push-button starter, heated front seats, and a rear USB port. High-tech safety features in this trim level include a rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring with intervention, and adaptive cruise control. If you opt to add the Convenience package to your Tucson Plug-In Hybrid, your SUV will also have a hands-free liftgate, larger wheels, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a few other items. The Premium package is also an option, and it gives you ventilated leather seats, a Bose sound system, and darkened exterior accents.
